Elvira Solèr Althof (8. February 1977)

After my childhood and school years in Valendas, I completed my apprenticeship as pastry-chef/confectioner in Chur. Years of learning and travels followed, where, inter alia, I spent a couple of seasons as patissier in the Casa Berno in the Ticino, in the Waldhotel Arosa, in the Hotel Mirabeau in Zermatt, in the Hotel Des Alpes in Flims and in the Hotel Duc de Rohan in Chur. Five years as pastry-chef/confectioner in the Pasticceria Marnin in Locarno were to follow. From 2011, Matthias and I ran the Ristorante Tentazioni in Cavigliano, and thereafter the Osteria dell´Enoteca in Losone. We spend our leisure time together with our daughter Elisa, who was born in 2006. A propos vintage, wine is one of my hobbies, as well as food.

Matthias Althof (17 October 1966)

I grew up in Blomberg/Lippe in North Rhine-Westphalia, from where I started my career after the commercial college as chef in the hunting restaurant Grünental. My path soon led me to renowned businesses in Ticino and in winter, to the Hotel Schatzalp in Davos, to the Hotel Des Alpes in Arosa and to cruise ships of the Royal Viking Queen. Prestigious positions in Ticino were the Albergo Losone, Castello del Sole, Giardino, Reber and Belvedere, before I settled as chef in the Castello Seeschloss in Ascona for ten years. Elvira and I took the leap into independence in 2011: We took over the Ristorante Tentazioni in Cavigliano, where we were awarded 15 points from Gault Millau in 2012 and celebrated as „Discovery of the Year“. In 2013, we changed to the Osteria dell´Enoteca in Losone, where we were graded with 14 Gault Millau points. When Elvira and our daughter Elisa are happy, then I am too. In addition, I love journeys to Italy, pooling and trying new ideas and – of course – cooking, eating, drinking and meeting people.
